Congratulations to Our New Marketing Volunteer Spotlight Award Winner, Priya Doty!

by Karen McFarlane

Today, we are proud to announce Priya Doty as the winner of the Marketing Volunteer Spotlight Award.

AMA New York is a volunteer-run organization, and as such, we rely on the skills, expertise, and enthusiasm of our member community to power our activities in building a robust and active marketing community. To show our appreciation, we launched the AMA New York Marketing Volunteer Spotlight Award program in January 2017 as a way to recognize outstanding volunteers from time to time whose efforts have made an extraordinary impact in helping us achieve our mission to celebrate brilliance in marketing.

It Started With a Simple Conversation

By day Priya Doty has over 20 years experience in brand and strategic marketing in the tech industry and is currently Senior Director of Solutions Marketing at CA Technologies. But in her free time, Priya serves as the Project Manager for the Marketing Hall of Fame, AMA New York’s premier event celebrating greatness in marketing. Priya joined AMA New York in March 2015 as a way to stay connected to the marketing discipline and practitioners. As a new member, she leveraged the valuable insights she gleaned from Marketing News and attended local networking events. It was at one of these events where she met Past President, Joanna Seddon. After chatting with Joanna about her interests, Priya joined the Marketing Hall of Fame Committee.

The Marketing Hall of Fame was only two years old when Priya joined giving her a unique opportunity to make a real impact on the future of AMA New York’s signature event. By working closely with the senior leadership and Chairs of the Marketing Hall of Fame Committee, Joanna, and Bob Kahn, Priya helped leverage past learnings to shore up a complex, multifaceted process to build momentum for years three and four. As Project Manager, Priya works year-round to galvanize staff and volunteers, ensure timely coordination and execution of all event logistics including voting, sponsorship deliverables, marketing, and public relations, and deliver a memorable, noteworthy experience to all participants.

Bob Kahn, President & Co-Chair of Marketing Hall of Fame said of the award, “When Joanna Seddon and I realized the Marketing Hall of Fame had become a great candidate for serious project management, we reached out to Priya who stepped right up to tackle the job. She is one of those people who figures out what needs to be done and just does it. Everyone on our team admires her skills and dedication.” He added, “Now she has asked to take on more so we have made her Executive Director of the Marketing Hall of Fame in recognition for her outstanding work.”

Priya’s Path from Project Manager to Executive Director to Marketing Volunteer Spotlight Award Winner

Priya plans to continue her marketing volunteer work for the 2017-2018 season. It is because of her talent, passion, and commitment to our organization that Priya will advance to the role of Executive Director of the Marketing Hall of Fame. Joanna Seddon, Past President & Co-Chair of Marketing Hall of Fame, commented on Priya’s involvement. “Priya stepped forward two years ago to support Bob and me in managing the year-long process of nominations, voting, communications and event organization for the Marketing Hall of Fame. She has done a fantastic job and we are thrilled that she is now taking on the role of Executive Director. We couldn’t have done it without her!”

When we asked Priya what she loves best about being a part of AMA New York, she said, “Seeing the best and the brightest in the industry inspires excellence! The AMA provides an amazing opportunity to connect with marketing leaders to learn from and be inspired by. That’s what I really enjoy the most.”
